EnerCote CL is a two component, 100% novolac epoxy technology that offers excellent
chemical resistance to aggressive chemicals including 98% sulfuric acid, 37% hydrochloric acid and a variety of industrial chemicals.
A secondary containment lining system designed for chemical protection includes a primer coat
with EnerPrime 10 followed by a topcoat of EnerCote CL a glass flake novolac epoxy system.
The incorporation of glass flake reinforcement offers several key benefits. Firstly, it reduces the
coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) of the coating, enhancing its dimensional stability
under temperature fluctuations. Additionally, the glass flakes help to relieve shrinkage stress
within the coating resins, preventing cracking and extending the coating’s lifespan.
Moreover, the overlapping arrangement of the glass flakes creates an effective barrier,
significantly reducing the permeability of the coating and thereby enhancing its resistance to
chemicals and moisture.
UV enhancers are built into the EnerCote CL formulation to reduce UV degradation and improve
UV stability of the lining system under direct outdoor exposure.
Where thermal expansion and contraction pose a risk for movement or cracking, a glass mat
reinforcement may be used. The glass fabric would be installed between two layers of
EnerCote CL and the coating would provide the saturant to adequately wet out the
reinforcement fabric.
Anti skid broadcast can also be used in conjunction with EnerCote CL for a non-slip safety floor
suitable for chemical storage areas and containment.
